PRESS "Goodbye Casanova" gala to open the second Annual L.A. Italian Film Awards On February 22, Luigi Campanile, executive director of the Los Angeles Italian Film Awards, announced that the film "Goodbye Casanova" will be the world premiere opening gala presentation at the Second Annual Los Angeles Italian Film Awards at 7:00p.m, April 25, at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. Starring Giancarlo Scandiuzzi, Yasmine Bleeth, Flea, Paul Ganus, Ellen Bradley and Pamela Gidley, "Goodbye Casanova" is a fairy tale romance set in a tiny neighborhood bookstore. Robert (Paul Ganus) runs the bookstore and fancies himself a great novelist. His wife Claudia (Ellen Bradley) is a gifted painter. Their marriage is failing and on the brink of divorce. Unbeknown to them, the legendary Casanova (Giancarlo Scandiuzzi) and his lover Lavinia (Yasmine Bleeth) are trapped inside a seventeen-century childrenšs pop up book. The story begins as Robert and Claudia have just signed their divorce papers. The tragedy of the broken heart triggers the release of Casanova to be truly free, and releases Lavinia from the book. The film is written and directed by Mauro Borrelli, a young Italian filmmaker that has multiple skills in art, visual effects, writing and directing. He wrote a Pinocchio screenplay for Francis Ford Coppola; he art-directed Animation Film (Final Fantasy); he story-boarded and concept-designed for Tim Burton, Tery Gilliam, Francis Ford Coppola, Warren Beatty, and Bernardo Bertolucci. His work shows in many major movies like "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow", "Bicentennial Men", "What Dream May Come", and "Little Budda". Borrelli/Kirschbaum Production and LAIFA will host a post screening "Casanova Party" at the Egyptian Theater Courtyard. |
